We would be one 30 second commercial slot away from the highest player populations in Tribes history lol. The marketing campaigns that I've done for tribes already have shown way higher than average click through rates (>10%) Not to mention the amount of install downloads that I saw while running the campaigns.


High click through rates = advertising money income. I will not be asking for any money to run marketing campaigns, but this is where we will have the biggest impact in creating an influx of new players - as you guys have mentioned already with the commercials and telemarketing. My knowledge is based off doing marketing campaigns for the game already with a small budget and seeing the results first hand, which I can post here if you guys are interested. Along side of search engine placement, the right marketing approach will reach out to the people who we currently are not reaching.

bawb, you know I support the Revive Tribes movement, so if any telemarketing needs done I'll gladly do the calling. I'm a 5 year vet of telemarketing. I used to sell Jenny Craig consultations to irritable fat women. I've sold million dollar IBM business solution systems to executives every morning M-F for two full years. I worked a slander campaign against some Senator at the time(who happened to parish in an airplane crash 2 weeks later). I've sold campaign signs for rinky-dink local political elections to people who lived on the 12th floor of an apartment building. I sold Omega-3 fish oil pills to the elderly passing as arthritis medicine. I signed up and helped sell hundreds of old and outdated laptops to the British customers of Orange in the UK. I've sold steak that costs $32/pound for Omaha Steaks. I've sat in a call center and done 8 hours of prank calls in one S_hift. I've ironically sold Chase credit card insurance, and the customers thought I was THE "Chase" for the entire duration. I've collected campaign money for Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Mitt Romney.

What I'm saying is: I love selling Tribes. I'm already on a 24/8 campaign to get everyone I know in real life to play. Grant me a position on your team and I'll put a full-ass effort into it. Hell, we already have ~100 people in my Tribes group on facebook to work with.

i wonder if everyone burn 100 copies of tribes to cd-rom and print out good cd art for it. then put box with cd-roms in mall or something and make cool sign saying free kick ass pc game here. even if this only got 2 long term active players. it would be worth it. lol

with the words TRIBES LIVES play free ... think about it.. You used to play tribes and who has played that did not love the game? You see that on the tv, computer wherever .... That would just rake in players who have gotten away from it, curious to see what it's become, if it's the same. Throw in "Greatest FPS EVER!" and pique some noobs interest. Perhaps make $ from advertising to offset costs. The issue is... even though Sierra let the game go, I don't think you can mod it and sell it again. ??? Perhaps an angle would be to make stock tribes free and charge for the mod or playtime but I dunno if that would fly. I would sign up for your pay for play list btw... I'm not pissin in no cup though.

Your hitting on the two most important factors. Reach out to people, and offer them a stable install of the game. Burning discs would work. Or printing out fliers with a tribes download link on it, and putting them up around high-traffic areas in your town. Stuff like that only helps. One could even go to the local college, and post fliers in the computer science department to lure in more tech-savvy players. Or even ask them for help out right. Or pass some copies of the game out too.

You're right SGT. We can't sell this game because none of us own the rights to it (not yet anyway). The two sources of funding will come from donations (I will pay as much as I can), and from advertisements once we generate enough traffic to warrant being paid. At first we will need to funnel the traffic through to one site, but in time this traffic will grow and overflow into our own individual forums and websites, allowing for us to not only create advertising revenue for the project itself, but for our own individual projects as well.

ok so i like the flyers idea, and the idea of burning game to dvd-rom / flash drive. only need what like 1gb. i wonder how much it would cost to buy whole sale 1gb flash sticks. dvd-rom prob better.

but yes, flyers, dvd-rom, and a few good 45 second action trailers.
