Starsiege:Tribes v1.41 Config

Post by AnniDv6 »

This Starsiege:Tribes config has all the map files needed to join Open Call 1, Open Call 2, Open Call 3, DOX, LT, the Goldeneye 64 maps that were converted to Tribes maps, and all of the correct default map files to be able to join servers without getting an error. It uses Grooves huds so you can press 'K' in game and click and drag the new hud elements as well.

Shadows Tribes . zip

File name is:
"ShadowsTribes.zip"

Extract the "Shadows Tribes" Folder into your
C:\Dynamix\Tribes\
Folder.

Look through the files to change key-binds to your liking.
Default Keybinds are:
*Press "K" in game to move the hud elements around. They tend to get stuck up in the top corners if you adjust your display size.
PoopAutoChat: "="
RandomTaunt by S']['U: "n"
CleanScreenshot: "f12"

DropperKeybinds:
//For invo screen
"2", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Laser Turret\" );");
"3", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Deployable Platform\" );");
"4", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Jump Pad\" );");
"5", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Blast Wall\" );");
"7", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Force Field Door\" );");

//For zappys or maybe global invo
"2", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Laser Turret\" );");
"3", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Deployable Platform\" );");
"4", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Jump Pad\" );");
"5", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Blast Wall\" );");
"7", TO, "AutoBuy::litterItem( \"Force Field Door\" );");

This config also has a bunch of custom player skins and some voice command files like 5150 etc.

This config has A LOT of Starsiege:Tribes maps to host on your own server and mess around on.
Included in the config at the following Tribes maps:
All of the standard Sierra/Dynamix maps that came with Tribes., the LT maps, the Open Call 1, 2 and 3 maps, the DOX maps, the Goldeneye 64 maps, as well as the following map pack with 265 maps are all included.
http://www.br.thelandofoz.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=9131

Some of the other scripts are:
Inventory Camera Screen to see what's going on while at an Inventory Station
There are a few custom gun shapes that are different and the flags are from the legends build, but the sounds are default Tribes mostly.
Has a ctf hud to see if your teams flag is home or not.
ItemHud that tells you how many beacons mines grenades you have left.
LegendzClockHUD tells you what irl time is and game time left.
LegendzFPSHUD.acs shows your in game fps.
Stats system that saves your match stats inside the Temp folder.
cski.acs this is a ski script bound to spacebace. basically you can turn it on to make yourself continually jump automatically
On screen mini map to replace the Compass.

Tribes version is 1.41

The total size of the .zip is 783 MB (821,526,528 bytes)
Once extracted the total size on disk is 858 MB (900,222,976 bytes) (Less than 1-Gig)

Here are some basic settings for getting the tribes.exe to run well:

Apply these settings in your Tribes.exe properties:

Additional tips for getting the Tribes.exe to run better:
Windows 7 Fix
AKA Data Execution Prevention Fix
AKA Tribes won't open when I launch it.

On some versions of Windows the Tribes.exe will not open correctly. When you try to launch the game Windows will give you an error window and in the 'More Info' it will say something about a 'BEX' ERROR. This Youtube video explains how to fix this error:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEkoK3EHOlU

The steps are essentially:
Open Windows Control Panel
Go to System
Click on Advanced System Settings
Under Performance Click Settings
Select The Far Right Tab 'Data Execution Prevention'
From here Either Turn On D.E.P. for All Programs
Or Simply Click 'Add'
Navigate to where you installed Tribes and select the Tribes.exe
Once you have the Tribes.exe selected click 'Open' and then click 'Apply'
The Tribes.exe should now open properly and not have a BEX error.

Turn 'Vertical Sync' AKA 'Vsync' OFF

Vsync is used in games to cap your frames per a second to 60 fps typically. For some games this is okay and will help performance, but Tribes really runs worse with this on.

The fix is to go into your graphics card settings and disable vsync either system wide or preferably for just the Tribes.exe

Here's a video about it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrSW4ly-ynw

For Nvidia:
Open Nvidia Control Panel
Click on 'Manage 3D Settings'
Click on the 'Program Settings' Tab
Click 'Add'
Navigate to where your Tribes.exe is and select it
Click 'Add Selected Program'
Once added you will now see you can edit the individual graphics settings only for that Program.
Scroll all the way down with the scroll bar if you have to, but find Vertical Sync and Select it.
This should open a drop down menu.
Click 'Off'
Make sure you click Apply or Save to make sure the settings stick.

To check if your Vsyc is on simply open Tribes and press the console button ` which is the key above Tab on a keyboard.
Copy and paste or type this text into the console:
showfps();
This will start relaying your fps in console. If its at 59 or 60 your Vsync is on. Note having vsync off will help your game run smoother even if you don't have a higher than 60 hz monitor. This is a general fix you should do for pretty much every Tribes config.

TXS for the reminder D! Just this morning around 1:30 AM had someone in the gamming forum having aiming issue's and lack of stability in game while playing and didn't know what to do to try to see if it could be resolved. They relayed they hadn't been on this forum in quite awhile, but I gave them some pointers to try out, and gave them the addy to this forum to PM me if they needed more assistance. Bumping this might help out with some of their issue's.
