Re: Newb Server
I witnessed a disagreement between a noob and a seasoned player concerning laser turrets that were being "wasted" in a poor defense.
The vet was TKing them.
Sapol defended the noob, and I agree with him... no one's D should be scrapped just because it doesn't meet one player's approval, however I think that noobs should be discouraged from setting D until they have been around long enough to see how it's properly done.
Maybe someone should write an Annihilation Guidebook for Noobs?
They could call it:

Two sides to that Stu. Players will never get better at setting turrets unless they set turrets, (and usually shitty at first) so there's that. At the same time when games are actually half-way serious I can understand tking them to make better use of them in the name of a better game. I know in most games, serious or not, when people would 'mismanage' the use of jump pads by putting them on top of a turret/platform setup I wouldn't hesitate to kill them. I don't call it bk because I would always redeploy a jump pad and even went a step further and would put more platforms on top of the turret setup I took the jump pad from, which they should have done anyway instead of a jump pad.
There's even a lot of veterans who are just plain bad/ignorant as far as d, to name one off the top of my head Firefox. Not that I have anything against his use of them, it's his choice, but Sapo is also ignorant when it comes to laser turrets. He will set half a teams laser turrets way off near oob grids where he is snipe camping, which isn't very useful to anyone but him, so it's selfish. If he set those field turrets where they would protect other players/base then yeah np. On top of it he doesn't cover them with anything, so they are even more useless.
Long rant with no real point.
p.s. I have also taken the time to show many players how to properly set defense, and most (not all) were receptive to taking the time to learn how to set better defense. I don't set turrets often but I know how to do it well and the perfect spots, thanks to Shift taking the time to teach me properly, so I passed it along. (Thanks Shift)
Edit: that vet should offer to teach the person setting useless d how to set better d regardless if he tk's them or not.

Re: Newb Server
In Sapo's defense, he did setup a decent flag D on Scarabrae this weekend. Texas wasn't able to get through. I was also providing scout D which may have helped. Nonetheless, he did a decent job.
Also, you never get on xFire anymore.

Re: maybe a step by step
I know that it would be fun to go on newb server and kick butt, but I think when they start up tribes for the first time they get a message that says heres how u play and they click on ok and it takes them to this server and it's a step by step and then they maybe go to this other server and try out there skills with admins see if there ready for the anni world. Thanks, Skywalker P.s. Item9 the thnx, another newb isn't funny. this is how you play...

So this is what it looks like to be on the other side of Google Translate. Weird.
