Defense Basics by: S_hift

there are a few things you should know before setting defense.

1. it is time consuming
2. takes care and constant attending.
3. good defense is meant to deter the enemy and keep them occupied or busy.

Now that you know this, here are some pointers.
- Think like the enemy. You are your own worst enemy. Now think, what would you do to destroy your own defense?
- Always defend within the best interest of the team. Do not clutter your base with useless shit like blastwalls, force fields, crates ect. Minimalism is very effective to your teams offense. Don't overdo it.
- Know when enough is enough. when that 15 minute mark hits you should have already be done setting defense.

Below is a simple Laserturret and Jumppad setup. It consist of two Laserturrets, a MotionSensor, 2 platforms, and a jumppad. The reason why I put a jumppad on it is for easy necromancer exiting and so that it cannot be pitch forked by enemies. It is quite effective in deterring pitchforking enemies.

Below is a simple laser box setup. It consists of 3 Laserturrets, 2 MotionSensors and 3 blastwalls. This is the most practical and ideal location for a laser box on broadside. Do not single wall any laser boxes. They will easily be destroyed.

I ripped the skins fro dox and opencall 3. I'm making a config that looks good for high end pc's and low end.

Nice laser setup guide.
You should toss in some other ones like "How to set up proper Ion turrets / flame turrets." Cause I find most people overly rely on Laser turrets for indoor defense, when if you're a troll like me; you use them as an exterior defense.

Edit: Sorry for making you do all this work, but I know you enjoy doing stuff like this Shift ;)

You could also explain a bit more in depth about how to properly set up a "Layering," system so things with splash damage won't impede your defenses. Keep it coming! :yahoo:

welding doesn't keep enemies from moving your shit. Putting a jumppad there wont hurt. and having one in the main hallway wont either as long as you know how to use them.

Shift, I will add all of your tutorials to the "Tutorials" section that I will be adding to www.ReviveTribes.com - along with modding, mapping, scripting, skinning etc.

Keep them coming guys, I can convert them to HTML from here. (Unless you want to save me the time and do it yourselves)
