which also led to pirate bay being shut down (a few of the hacked movies hit the site. guess it was the final straw).

crazy stuff. wonder what's going to happen in the torrent world now.

well considering that "hackers" did all this stuff, I seriously doubt the torrent world will be effected for long.

Most people don't realize that pirate bay is just a place with links to torrents. The torrents are still there and being shared by people. For example if you wanted to torrent a movie that was on pirate bay you can search the name + pirate bay and look in the cache for the link and then just open it in whatever torrent program you use. Nothing is really going to change if pirate bay doesn't come back, there are lots of other sites out there and the sharing isn't going to just stop.
The Sony attack is interesting because of the idea that it was orchestrated by North Korea. These large scale attacks by different governments are becoming more and more popular and it's interesting to consider how the internet will play a roll in future wars. Remember the internet blackout Egypt had in 2011?
