Hi everyone, I have a few q's for you all. Hope everyone is doing well
Thanks for answering if you do:
1. What is your preferred file upload site(s)... example: dropbox.com
2. What version/config of tribes are you running?
3. Do you have any interest in a script that can link you directly from tribes servers to download files, tutorials, forum topics, etc? Including automatic download popups for client side content?
As far as #3 goes I have had the concept chilling in my head for a while, and Tribes has the functionality to support the idea. May be useful, I don't really know how many people even play anymore though. I guess I'll know by the response I get lol

1. I don't use any upload file site, or share filed sites, or cloud sites, due to my security clearance, not safe.
2. 1.30.
3. Yes, I would be interested in this, due to servers running client side maps, in which you do not have them downloaded already. Already green's lounge server is doing this, dropping half the server during a match due to client side maps. Early this morning I was on the server and Blank was on, who is paying for the hosting, and I made him aware of this. He relayed he was waiting for Maverick to send him a list of server side maps, but I relayed to him that all he needed to do was list a link on the message board of the server relaying where the maps could be downloaded, so he could still use the maps on the server, and as Fixious relayed, if it's safe.

Someone in this community needs to win the lottery, buy the Tribes IP, put together a game studio and put these people to work for a next-gen Tribes 1 remake with superior netcode, a community mod center, map maker, mod maker, hire the original voice actors, use the exact same physics and sounds but updated graphics.

We had a millionaire clan member who attempted to purchase the IP. He contacted every former developer he could and reached out to every proprietor of the IP that has been, and none of them ever quoted him a price.
While the IP has changed hands several times, it has only changed hands on paper. We believe that it is still controlled by an individual who loves it too much to let it go.
He even tried to purchase the master server domains, but they weren't for sale.
The answer he got was a very silent "NO. Make you're own game." But none of us really want a new game... We want to ressurrect an old game, and no one really knows how. We've got theories, such as making the term "client-side" obsolete using HTMLOpen, purchasing the master server domains and replacing the master servers. Website/database plugin/integration for stat tracking and permissions (admins/bans).
We've even tried flooding the player base with noobs by advertising on social media, offering the game for free, etc... The result is always the same.. Noob joins game, noob gets pwnt, noob bitches about graphics and rage quits.
The reason Tribes is dying, is because the people who love it are too fucking good at it. Noobs don't have a chance. It took us over a decade to get this good, you can't expect a noob, or even a vet who hasn't played in years, to have a chance.
Sorry for pessimism, and truth.

I agree with your statement in that Tribes 1 as it stands right now isn't noob friendly. However if 100's upon 100's of people flooded into a remade Tribes 1 Annihilation with the same mechanics and physics just on Unreal Engine 4, then people would start getting better pretty quickly. Especially when they would be playing against eachother for the most part.
I'm not all that good and I still have fun, and I know others who play regularly like Marcus have improved a great deal from when I first started playing against them.
That sucks about the IP. However, you guys can't let your talent go to waste. Its never been more accessible to make a game in Unity or UE4. If you, plasmatic, kigen, anubis, death666, bawb, bugs, dajackal, and many more were all funded to focus on it full time then it could get done in less than a year. We just need a billionaire.

The rich don't get richer by throwing their money away.
How do you purpose they'll profit from this?
Retail market is obsolete for video games.
Free to play with ads, or subscribe to ad free?
Should the programmers concentrate on fixing bugs and charts that effect gameplay, or detecting and preventing ad block hacks?

Mediafire is pretty legit. Never had a single problem with them ever. They don't go through my files in fact if you go to my file share you can download doom GzL.
