In this video, researchers attempt to use MRIs to recreate what the test subject sees. As their understanding of the brain develops, the images will become crisper and more accurate, and eventually they may focus on other sections of the brain to record not just what you see, but also what you hear, dream, taste, etc...

I remember watching a movie decades ago where a serial killer recorded his brainwaves while murdering people and sold the recordings on the black market as snuff films.

I also recently read about a camera that can see through our bodies better than an MRI. The article claimed it uses "red light". I assume they meant infrared light, but i may be wrong.

Either way, i predict a future where we're surrounded by these cameras. You won't need to carry phones or money, anymore, as your thoughts will constantly be monitored and the internet will do your bidding...

Imagine a trip to the grocery store. The doors will open automatically, just like they have for years, but instead of being controlled by a pressure plate or a motion sensor, they'll be controlled by brain scanners. You'll take an item of a shelf and put it in your pocket. A brainwave scanner will identify you and the product, and charge your account.

You'll walk past a digital ad for a politician and the ad will address your specific concerns/beliefs, and your approval/ disapproval will be measured, but the politician still won't give a fuck about you or your concerns.

The very people who are deleting their social media accounts today due to feeling manipulated will be wearing mesh hats and metallic makeup to remain anonymous to these sensors, but it won't work. The metallic makeup will make it easier for the cameras to measure your facial expressions and develop a profile of what they think your thoughts might be, anyway. Not as detailed as the masses, but still detailed enough to tailor ads and sell you shit that you don't need.

There will be no opt out. No privacy. Even the thoughts of the amish will be recorded via satellite and their junk mail will be tailored to them.

Shit is about to get techy.

damn tht would be kinda fucked up, imagine hearing the word "dissaprove" if ur a senator...lol damn, almost feels like what everybody is waiting for in Purge the TV series. SOmething like tht would have to happen, government falls.

This could be pretty helpful for future cures, which the vid relayed, but like you mentioned Perr, it's also scary to see what can come of it for those who manipulate and use it for doing things wrong.

Just "think" (pun intended) of a thought, and it happens.

EDIT: I don't remember the link on where I saw this, but doctors and scientists have come up with a way to take those wrap around your ear hearing aids and implant them into someone who is deaf so they can hear. Now, they can't hear completely, but they can hear something just enough in order to learn to hear what they are saying to learn to say it properly. Pretty amazing!

So, we'll definitely be able to read a mind using digital imagery, but will we ever be able to remotely project thoughts directly into our brains?
