I've mentioned this in the past about maps kicking players, which is why people are not playing as much on the server anymore. It frustrates them to the point where they don't want to deal with it anymore, and they move on to another server which this doesn't happen, like LT. We need to remember that some of these players may not know about the different versions of the game and what each does or pertain to due to them, even now, still be new to the game, and them not knowing that in some servers "NON" client side maps will kick them if they do not have them downloaded, or have an updated version of the game. The one's that don't have a newer version of the game may not even know where to go to download it. I've caught a few that were young and just now finding out about this game and it's versions, due to it being a free game they can download and play. Some old school players, like myself, don't have a newer version downloaded, even today, due to them not liking something about them. I have version 1.41 downloaded, and have tried it, but don't like it's interface, so don't use it. I still use 1.30 that was created for Windows Vista, which I use on Windows 8.1, due to not liking Windows 10's interface, even when Windows 10 was offered by Microsoft for a free download. If I decide to purchase a new computer in the future, I've decided it won't have a Microsoft interface, I'll be switching to Apple, after doing a bunch of research and comparing both companies with the types of upgrades they have been doing through the years, and seeing Apple's interface improve with it's speed and accuracy compared to Microsoft.

I don't remember how this interface worked, but there was a few older games in the past that when I connected to them and there was a map that was going to load for the online game, the server would relay this, and give you an option to either stay on the server and the server would download it to your game folder, or you could physically drop from the server, or it would auto kick you.

Another type of interface would tell you when you connect to the server that you didn't have all the requirements in order to continue to play on the server, and gave you options to either stay on in order to auto download them, auto kick you, or you could physically drop, or some even gave you one or more links you could click on and it would keep you in observation mode on the game server, while it opened another window link allowing you to find, click, and download what you needed in order to continue to play on that server.

The br server advertises crow's config which has all of the maps hosted by the server. You don't even have to use the config, just rip the missions out.

The server can force clients to download files from the internet, but the client's would be prompted to download or cancel, and then would have to install them manually, unless the file was an auto installer that could search for tribes.Exe.

However, most configs are patched to prevent that function from working, thanks to Bob sending everyone to meatspin or lemonparty or whatever was trending back then.

I'm pretty sure all maps on the server don't require anything more than DOX, LT, Opencall 1-3. Almost all 1.4 configs come with this by standard.

Most of my maps are server side edits of balanced maps which means you have to have at least v1.11 to join as v1.8 as the open call and balanced map packs were included in v1.11.

In v1.40, they moved the balanced and open call maps to separate folders named after the respective map packs. Likewise, dox and lt map packs got their own folders, too.

I think the path of each map DOES have to match the path the server stores the files in, and i think we dumped them all into the base missions folder on the server.

So if we change it to be the other way, some of the people who have been kicked will be able to play, while most of the people who were able to play won't.

I have duplicates of all the required files in their respective folders AND in the base missions folder, so regardless of how they're installed on the server, my client will match.
