Could be graphics card thing. I know one of them old cards use to have hacks that made the bases transparent. Shratners OGL or something.

It's the first time I've noticed that glitch, and it goes away when you get closer to the bases.

I don't get how shooting at a pixel from across the map is fun.
That's not a contest of skill ...that's just target practice.
...and some people even have to cheat doing that..
