This program will allow you to record and edit any audio being played on your computer.
Saves files as WAV only.

So both of these record via the microphone ... ??? If so sound quality will not be that great and you will have to watch for noise while recording. I've used sound recorder to record my guitar a time or two with cheapy mic. Is that other program record in some other way STU? Curious... Could you convert the files to mp3 or whatever later?

This program has more editing functions. Plus, I was never able to get the Windows one to record more than a few seconds at a time.

No. SoundEdit records directly from your sound card. (so make sure your mic is off )

Yes.
...but if you're burning to CD, WAV files are perfect for that.

Both have sound input options.
I believe the one built into windows has a 2 limit max... Which is plenty of time if you are looking to make anything other than CD tracks for tribes.

The idea is to record audio off of YouTube.
