i dont see why not!browneyes wrote:Nice work groove.
can i use Tribes2's sound track in your plugin?
worst case scenario you might have to rename them or tell them to load manually
but i'll probably try to do up a 'shuffle all songs in the \soundtrack folder' option
still learning this stuff so not quite sure what i can or can't accomplish yet
Re: is there a Back Ground Music script for Tribes1?
I just play youtube in the background. Tribes is muted.
Re: is there a Back Ground Music script for Tribes1?
anyone wanna test an early version of the soundtrack plugin?
soundtrack_plugin_0.12.zip
extract to your tribes foler, has everything u need including pluginloader, toggle 'cd music' checkbox in sound menu to start playing
should play the correct songs on maps too
still needs a bunch of polishing but works pretty decent as far as i can tell
(list of commands and info are in soundtrack.acs.cs)

Crashed on map change for me when first trying it. What I've done so far:
edit: Tried on Annihilation again, didn't crash. May have just been a server crash, which has been happening a bit lately.
- •Joined Annihilation server. Crashed on map change.
•Restarted, hosted my own game and force changed map. No crash, music switched like it normally should.
•Restarted, hosted my own game and capped out. No crash, music switched like it normally should.
•Restarted, joined Community. No crash on map switch, music switched like it normally should. (edit: did this twice so far, no probs)

Re: is there a Back Ground Music script for Tribes1?
Cool! Thanks for the testing!
It wouldn't surprise me if there's conditions that would set it off, i haven't done much in terms of checking for malformed commands/results (i usually hit that stuff last) so it's possible that certain maps loading might do funky stuff
also if u hadn't moved the volume slider around yet it wouldn't have set $cdVolume which gets called on the first play, i hadn't really thought of that but that could cause issues
unfortunately andrew not only removed the redbookplugin but also took out all the commands in option.cs and all the other associated scripts so none of the CD options are set in 1.4
next version i'll throw in a check for cdVolume so that other first time users hopefully won't hit the same crash
(also easter egg in that .zip - secret version of the auto pluginloader that confirms it's loaded in the console on startup )

Re: is there a Back Ground Music script for Tribes1?
also i feel like a huge idiot because i learned THE most basic thing about tribes the other day
u can start typing a command in the console and hit tab and it'll autocomplete commands that start with what you typed
i knew it worked it other games but for some reason i never tried it in tribe
15 years later and im still a huge nub in some ways
