Re: Legolas is an asshole...
Is this a complaint?
Fish is talking about that elf for Lord of the rings, right?
The one that all the memes say wasn't in the books...
I don't even understand why this was posted.
He said a movie character is an asshole, then someone else accused him of being gay and he replied that it depends on his mood, but not today.
This is not valid evidence of anything but fish's sense of humor, which I don't get, because I don't like Lord of the rings.

Am I missing out?
LOTR is definitely worth seeing.
Like perr, I had no interest in LOTR or The Hobbit, even thought the latter was required reading in 10th grade English in my High School. I never read the book....just bluffed my way through the tests by paying attention to the discussions.
After seeing LOTR, I was kicking myself in the ass for being so ignorant in HS and not giving these stories a chance.
Even though The Hobbit is a prequel to LOTR, I would recommend seeing LOTR first. It's easier to get into the characters and it has a better story-line. The Hobbit has been stretched out to 3 movies and has been turned into a mostly action/adventure movie with the story-line being spread a bit too thin for my liking.
LOTR has enough story to justify 3 movies at nearly 3 hours each (extend versions, which I highly recommend over the theatrical versions). The Hobbit doesn't.
I would also recommend watching these movies with the closed-captioning turned on... it makes it much easier to understand what's being said.
On a scale of 1 -10, I would rate LOTR at 9.5
and The Hobbit at 8.
Re: Legolas is an asshole...
0/10 don't care.
I hated the incredibly boring first movie, and never had any desire to see the rest of the franchise, but I've seen bits and pieces as my siblings are all fans, and I live with one in the winter and another in the summer.
I'm not a fan of the fantasy genre in general...
The only exceptions involve dragons and/or nudity, and no, the dude who says, "My precious" doesn't count.

You missed out. Yeah there's a lot of background info and character development in the first movie, but there's plenty of action, drama, suspense and humor in the others, not to mention some really epic battle scenes.perrinoia wrote:0/10 don't care.

There's so much story to be told that they couldn't even get it all in 3 three-hour movies. (they totally omitted Tom Bombadil because there just wasn't enough time for him!)
BTW there IS a dragon in The Hobbit, and the Nazgûl ride a "fell beast" in LOTR that looks a lot like a dragon.
Tell me this isn't good:
