Flame thrower or flamer?

I always get the 2 confused.

One is effected by gravity, carries a lot of ammo, and is very useful for raping bases.
The other shoots clouds of fire which injure/blind the shooter, and runs out of ammo quick.

I forgot about the nerf of OS. I too have used the weapon that lobs fire since then.

Do any of you remember the pulse cannon? Before it's deletion, i preferred it over plasma rifle. It was the same weapon image as plasma rifle, but energy based instead of ammo based, and the projectile was the same blue energy ball as plasma turrets.
